C. Bonetti Marcus: I have always considered myself an active and fit person. Exercise has always been part of my daily routine. However, during my first pregnancy we relocated back to New York City and I found little time to exercise and focus on prenatal training. I gained 25 pounds, had a 15 hour labor, and pushed for over 2 hours to deliver my daughter Camila.|
My recovery after delivery was arduous. It took me almost 9 months to feel back to my normal self, and to shed the extra baby weight. As soon as I was feeling back to normal, and with a 9 month old baby to focus on, I found out I was pregnant with my second daughter. I vowed to experience a better labor and delivery and to take better care of myself during the pregnancy.
Thanks to a recommendation from a good friend, I met Susanna. Susanna was my saving grace! I worked out with her twice a week throughout this pregnancy, up to about 2 weeks before delivery. She helped strengthen my back and my abdominals, while convincing me that my delivery would be much easier. She went much further than just being a pre-natal trainer. She helped me understand my body; she helped me learn to breathe better; she developed those muscles that were critical in helping push the baby out of my womb. There were muscles I never even knew I had!!
My delivery finally had to be induced. Labor was only 6 hours and my pushing time was only 22 minutes! A full 2 hours shorter than the first time around.
I can wholeheartedly say Susanna was instrumental in helping me achieve this and more importantly, in helping me gain only 13 pounds (8.9 were baby!) during this pregnancy, while guiding me in a holistic approach to wellbeing, life, and the joys of maternal fitness! Thank you Susanna!
